The annual cost for serve maintenance and domain name is coming up in February.  It will be about 30 bucks as is but I was thinking about upgrading the server when it was time to renew.  I was thinking about doing a tournament to help cover these cost which I think will prob be about 50-60 bucks to renew and upgrade.  I was thinking about a 5 dollar buy in for the tournament where 3 dollars of that 5 would go towards prizes and the other 2 dollars would go towards renewing and upgrading the site.  I think also that a prize tournament might also get us alot more members so it would be a win/win situation.  If we did this in MW2 in the next coming months would you guys be interested and if so, what kind of tournament layout would you guys like to see? i.e 1v1, team based etc.  Let me know your thoughts and suggestions as me and TD will continue to push this site forward in the future.

Sure...we should have a paypal account for the site and a Treasurer.

Remember also there are phone #'s, if we wanna speak privately about issues like that as well.  Some people are willing to help I think, but they do not want it to be known all over the site.

1 vs. 1 would be best I think.

We already have a paypal account (thanks TD for setting that up) and could delegate funds that way.  There would not be any cash prizes due to legal ramifications but we could  use this money for gift cards, shirts, posters etc.  I agree with you amia that it should be a team based tourney either 3v3 or 4v4 with teams randomly assigned to be fair.  This would allow people to get to know each other better and would incorporate "the brotherhood" aspect of the site rather than having a solo based tournament.  Also 5$ was just my base cost I was asking we could do it for 10$ and have even better prizes.  No matter the entree fee the alooted 50-60 bucks would go towards the site annual cost and everything else would be for prizes.  This idea isnt for me to profit from. (unless I win the tourney : p)

Cool...did not know that...so does this make TD the official treasurer for the site???

lol...that was faded that sugested that...I was saying 1 vs. 1 that way the price is only one and it goes to that one winner...whereas if it's 3 vs. 3...then the prices cost that much more and players get less of a price then if it only went to one.

I think no more than $10.00 for entry would be good for something like this...with 50% going to the prizes and 50% towards the site...remember what is collected for the site does not have to be spent all at once.  It can be saved and used in the future for other costs or inprovements or advertising etc...etc...

Of course not...that's why I think there should be an official treasurer (ex. TD) and a Board (ex. other Mods and Admins) that could oversee when needed.

In order for this to work we would need new people to register on this site.  I think people on my friends list would be more inclined to come here if there was a tournament.

I'm down for a tournament. Where should we start advertising this? besides friends lists of course.

dont start openly advertising this yet since we don't have any concrete details on the tourney yet (date, prizes etc.) Start passing along that we are in the planning process to your friend on xbox and anyone else you think might be interested.  You can start letting it be known on other forums  once we set a date entry prize and prizes to be won.  I also want to run this by TD when he gets back since he is the other half of the admin on here.
