If you are reading this and already paid your 15 dollars I hope you are crying right now. If Pete was there he would be licking your bittersweet tears from your face in joyful glee at your uncontrollable spending habits and your contribution to the epic failure which is MW2.

Stimulus Package Broken

Dan Howdle 13:29, Tuesday 30 March 2010

We've got it, but it appears, no one in the UK at least... can play it...

The new Stimulus Package, launched mere moments ago is... well... broken.

Having tried numerous times to get into games under the new Stimulus Play List, we've discovered that all of the maps disallow entry, resetting themselves repeatedly to the intermission timer.

“The Stimulus Package is currently broken.”

The preview screen for each map appears as a single chequered image, along with the map name as it probably was during the debug stage.

We have attempted to contact Activision about the problem. Rumours are currently flying that a dashboard update is apparently yet to arrive and that this may be the issue. We shall keep you posted.

Update 1: As per Robert Bowling's blog entry detailing everything we need to know about the Stimulus Package, the Infinity Ward man mentions a title update for the game, which enables MW2 players to access the DLC. It was supposed to launch along side, but it seems if you've got the DLC you may have to wait a while:

"Along side the DLC, but something ALL of our users will get, is a title update for Modern Warfare 2. Included in this update is support for the DLC (if you choose to purchase it), as well as some tweaks to the One Man Army perk, some matchmaking updates that will help our international users find more locally hosted games thanks to how ping is now sorted, and various other code updates that will help improve the overall quality of multiplayer on Modern Warfare 2. There is no exact time you can expect all this, I’d say early morning when traffic is at its lowest, but by the time you wake up and get online I’m sure it will be available to most of you on March 30th! See you online all this week!"

Update 2: Major Nelson has confirmed that the problems lie in Microsoft's court with the following Tweet:

"The engineers are already engaged and working on the MW2 Stimulus Pack problem. They'll get is corrected."

You don't have to man. I am not. I will support you for not purchasing it now (maybe later if they fix the game real good or reduce the price). My old baseball coach told me once that I shouldn't tell my parents...no wait that's not the story I meant to convey, he said "Pete, no one is going to cut off you fingers if you screw up." Well Eli, no one is going to cut off your fingers if you don't buy the map pack.

Also, my gym/health teacher always told me to remeber that you dribble before you shoot. I could never figure if he was talking about basketball or sex. Have a nice day :)

Yet once again a reason why MW2 is one of the largest failures ever. So what if it had the single most greatest launch in gaming history. It continues to fail around every corner you look. Looking forward to Treyarchs next title. I've gone back to playing W@W where it was atleast fun. I'm so thankful that I didn't WASTE the $15 on the DLC. The funny thing is that over 50% of my friends who were online last night were still playing BF: BC2 which just goes to show how much CoD has fallen off the chart with real gamers who want a non-gay experience.

this game was such a let down, the game is great dont get me wrong, its just all the effin douche bags that run around this game, the hackers, the glitchers.

this entire thing is just rubbing salt in an open flesh wound.

Im glad i bought Bad company 2, overall im having much more fun with that then COD.

I truly do miss playing COD, but I have my limits, I play to have fun not to have my blood pressure kill me,.

MW2 is a fun game, but IW isn't being a good shepherd. They haven't been as aggressive in dealing with hacks, glitches, and modders as they should have. MS should be constantly scanning to get rid of modded machines and IW should be instating some kind of system to detect mods and hacks in the games. I don't understand why they have just let the game go; apparently if it isn't a way to make money, they aren't interested.

dammit.

The idea of COD 7 makes me almost cream in my pants. I've been playing basically nothing but waw the past month, now that i have BFBC2 working disc i will be on that as well. Can't wait for september. I was thinking of buying the stimulus, but instead of developing a map pack with 3 boards + special map (zombies, spec. ops), they made one with 3 maps + 2 recycled ones. And upped the purchase price. MW2 sucks, I doubt if I will play it ever again. Long live BFBC2. Can't wait to see what treyarch comes up with.

I got on MW2 today, since it is double XP. Big Dub invited me to a game and when they saw I didn't have the maps they kicked me out of the lobby. I almost broke down and bought the maps, but then I thought "15 FUCKING DOLLARS" for 5 maps. Go fuck yourself Activision.

:(

admittedly, playing on crash and overgrown is nice. I just got tired of running in games by myself.

edit: I was just thinking on this.

The 1200 MSP price is a bad sign for the future of COD DLC if Activision is still going to be the producer. If enough people pay 1200 MSPs then they will see that they can charge that price from now on. Too bad there is no way to reach all gamers to let them know that no one should have bought the damn thing.

and that was one of my main reasons for NOT buying them, and im really glad i didnt, I played the maps at a buddies house this weekend, and i have to say they are very mediocre at best, its pretty sad that the best maps in the pack are the two the recycled from COD4. out of the new ones i would say that the one in the junk yard with the snow is the best, and thats stretching it, ALOT. Yea it would have been nice to have DXP but not for what they want to charge.

Eli you are absolutley correct on the future DLC, if they get 500,000 asshats to buy the DLC at 15 bucks a shot, then they know they can get at least that much. whats next, $20, $30 DLC? You wont find me paying that. IW need to get their shit sorted, between the glitching and hacking this game has turned into a joke, i am actually imbarrased to call myself a call of duty fan because of this.

So the most outspoken dissenter of the map pack becomes its first buyer. Truly a sad day for just causes everywhere.
