As you all know I live in NJ and it's pretty difficult to get a pistol purchase permit and, as I recently learned, even more difficult to affordably purchase a pistol. I had my heart set on a Glock G22 Gen 4 and I found a store that sold them for anywhere between $398-$455 depending on the type of sights you get. That is a great price and I budgeted for that. After six weeks of waiting I got my permit and all the glocks were sold out. Gun purchases are through the roof because of the current administration in the white house. And .40 cal is very popular. So I started looking at other dealers for glocks and learned that they were just price gouging on the popularity of .40 glocks charging $650 and up. So I said fuck it. I'll wait the 10-15 weeks my dealer would take to get me a glock. Problem is, in NJ my permit to purchase expires in 90 days, not enough time to wait. So I went with my second choice the S&W M&P .40 wherein S&W basically stole the entire design from Glock.

I picked it up and could not be happier. The grip and trigger pull are awesome and the internals are a mirror of the glock. Plus it's made in America. Smith was also the first and second guns I ever shot.
I didn't have anytime to get pictures but I will. Here is a stock photo from the interwebz:

Mine has Tijicon (I think) green night sights, the beaver tail you see here and no thumb safety or magazine safety. Comes with 3 15 round mags. Can't wait to shoot it and put some pics up here.

I hear you Ed. I think its going to be a great gun and not my only gun. I am going to purchase a G22 when they flood the market with them again. I just couldn't get price gouged and I couldn't let that permit expire. This was always my second choice. I think that if you handled and took this gun apart you would be pretty pleased.

Next is the G22 then, when I grow up, the 1911 .45 acp. ooooooo! This is a good start. The fucking grip is awesome, follows the shape of you palm perfect. It has the interchangable backstraps but the medium one fits me perfect.

Very nice Pete. You should check out the Sig Sauer P226 and P220. Excellent weapons, albeit a bit pricey. Just remember to point it in the right direction ;)

very pricey i am in the market for a small compact 380. i looked at the S&W bg380 because of its price point but the trigger is like 9 lbs, its like a rifle trigger almost. then i looked at the sig 238 and it was very nice, but the price of over 600 bucks scares the fuck outta me

Fuckin sweet man!

I've been trying to track down a G34 for months now. I'm hoping the store I usually go to will get a few in in the next few weeks. Their main distribution center got a small shipment in, but they don't know where they will go. I might end up having to drive out somewhere to pick it up.

As for today, me and a buddy of mine went halves on a deer rifle. Ended up getting a Mossberg 270. Seems like a good rifle so far; paid $299 and it came with the scope. Mossbergs are made here in Texas, had to get it.

I put 500+ rounds through it last night and it was awesome. Very accurate right out of the box. The trigger is great, it is a little bit two stage because of the safety but that takes about 4 shots to get used to. Obviously I had no issues, misfires or failures to feed. I love it and am very happy with my purchase.
