Hey guys and girls,
This is a real important announcement, and I hope you all are willing to hear me out. This forum has to move to a new server and host. Unfortunately, the host I am with now is an overseller and is basically trying to kick us out.
I have been fighting with them for the past week about our bandwidth usage and storage of data, and they just won't budge. If we plan on getting bigger anytime soon, this is a must to move to a bigger and better host capable enough to handle the bigger usage.
I have been scouting around and found the company I would like to use, but unfortunately, it is a bit out of my price range right now seeing as I am still unemployed. I am not asking for support on this, nor am I asking for any donations. But, should you decide to contribute of your own free will, I will not decline.
I am sorry to have to do this on such short notice, but unfortunately, I was given no notice by my host that they were doing this. So, during this time, there may be downtime as I wouldn't doubt that the host is trying to flush us out.
Best Regards,
JB

Right now, the server I'm looking at is a Dedicated VPS, 348MB RAM, 35GB Storage and runs Windows 2003. It goes for $22.50/month but with cPanel, it will be about 28/29 bucks a month.
These server specs are 500x times better than what we are running now. And to compare, I pay $5.95/month with the host I have now :)

Everything will remain as is. The only thing changing is the server.
The site will remain intact, so no worries there. The only disturbance will be in the transfer of the site.
There may be some downtime, but when I am ready to move, I will let you all know ahead of time.

OK, good news.
I am going 50/50 with a friend who runs http://www.simpleportal.net on the new server. This will cut costs from ~$30/month to ~$12/month.
Simpleportal.net is also experiencing troubles with their host as well, and we made a mutual agreement on a new host. So they will be sharing the server along with us. Just a side note, SimplePortal is the software used to create the frontpage of this site. So I want to take this time to thank them as well.
So, with that said, I may try and do the move sometime this week or next. I will let you all know :)

I should be starting a new job sometime soon (hopefully) as I have no less than 20 interviews scheduled for this week and next.

I'll let you in on the landing a job secret. When they ask you a question give them a specfic situation or task, your actions to rectify, and the results. Also always give one situation where you failed and what you learned for the next time. It works all the time and that is how I managed to land my job.
