An idea I had, just wanted to run it by the community.  I'm not sure how hard this would be to implement, mind...

Sticky nomination.  Each thread would have a little icon/button/link/etc next to it.  If a thread/OP goes above and beyond the call of duty or is extraordinarily informative, users could nominate it to be stickied by clicking said icons.

Of course threads being stickied would be at the Admin's discretion.

Thoughts?

admin usually end up doing this on a thread by thread basis now. Usually for threads that contain good information with thought put in to the content.

JB might have a solution for this though, once he sees this topic he will be able to let you know.

Right now, the admins here will stick certain topics on merit and validity and usefulness of information.

I could see something like this more useful in the future as we get bigger and there are more posts and members.

Thanks for the idea thought :)

That is actually a very good idea and one that should be really considered.

Think about it JBlaze, it would be like the Karma thing for threads.  And easier on the mods too, when they log on and see that a certain thread has a lot of people who would like to see it stickied then it would point out certain threads and make it so that you guys dont have to go through them all at once.  You could sort of prioritize (sp?)

Yea, I guess I'll have to think about it. Then I gotta find the time to code it lol

one other thing which may come up is a way to decide when to unsticky a thread.  A thread about seeing ThatDude in a dress may be really hopping this week, but would obviously die down after a bit.

And as for the code, well as you can tell from my title, I am the Internet Inventer so just let me know if you need any help.

All done. It was fairly simple. There was already someone who coded a topic rating system that we can use. I can just modify it for our needs as we see fit :)

You will now notice that all topics have the ability to be rated. Moderators and Admins will recieve notices when certain topics become very popular, and will look into maybe sticking that/those post(s).

Honestly, this is the reason that I like this site.

Less than 24 hours ago a completely new member to the site throws out a reccomendation.

Not only is it answered very quickly, but a discussion ensues and within 24 hours it is decided that the idea holds water and is implemented.

Once again thanks JBlaze and community for inviting me here.

I'll look into that further down the road once we get this ball rolling. Need to iron out some of the more finer details, then we can work on the full shibang lol.

Believe it or not, it's members like all of you that make the community what it is. I am just the means of delivering what you want. Thank you all for making us what we are and what we plan to be in the future.

...  And in turn allow me to thank you.  You were initially talking to Shots (SkyMiteFall) about this site, but you mentioned that it was called the Gaming Brotherhood, so I came to check it out.  It's mint is all I can say.

And thanks to JBlaze.  An admin that respects the members is an admin respected in turn.  ;)

Yeah I actually try to keep my name over at CODHQ, aside from laughing at the threads over there I know that most of the people there are just as tired of the mods and the solely COD talk.  Otherwise, I would be happy to throw out the site address more often.  I am really glad that you came over here, I wish i knew you were interested, I would have given you the site that gave me the referral credit  lol.

Anyway welcome to the site, hell you have just gotten here and already had an awesome idea.
