What is the point?  It's easy enough to type a or lb, why would we need icons?

It's easy enough to send each other messages over XBL or talk on IM, why do we need a forum?

Also, it helps the overall presentation of the site.

You are really comparing the use of the icons to the overall scope of this forum.  Really?  I'm not saying it is a bad idea im just saying that im not sure we can implement a way to use them that isnt more complicated than it is worth.

ummm, I dont really see a point in having these, if you can come up with a reason we need them, other than, because they are cool, or what ever, a real reason. then maybe we will use them. I could see using those if there were alot of cheat codes, but most codes now-a-days use a text field, not a bunch of random button presses.

personally i think it would be a waste of resourses

I have to agree here.  I think that they are cool but they would really serve no purpose besides "looking cool."

Yes, I am.  The principle is the same.  One is an alternative means of doing something we can do via other means.  One is an alternative method of something we can already do via other means.

This is an extremely confusing way to put it, burt I would say you are correct, if not practical.

Just to address the above posts, I was planning on writing a couple of guides for the site.  Might direct a little more traffic our way.

Notice the emphasis on "was".  Typing the buttons is ugly, this would spruce it up a little.  But, seeing just how opposed everyone is to them, I might as well not bother.
