I am converting this forum to a new, more advanced forum software called IPB. You can catch a small demo of the power it has at http://community.invisionpower.com

Reason being that the current forum software that this runs on is going sour. The project and the members behind it are collapsing, and myself, one of the bigger contributing members, was banned along with many others for speaking out their opinons. You can get more info about this from both http://www.lewisonline/?p=426 as well as http://www.smf-friends.org

Well enough rambling, time to get down to facts. This software comes at a price (not bad, but enough). It costs $149 to obtain a license to use. This license will be good forever, but the other things it offers are limited. Support is only good for 6 months at which point the license must be renewed. There are other things as well, but you can find more info at http://www.invisionp...rd/purchase.php

I will be paying for this license out of pocket. I will also try to renew the server costs as well, and maybe try to squeeze in a better server. If anyone should want to help out, that would be great. I will be trying to get this done sometime this week.

Any questions, as always, just ask.

Thanks.

I'm a little bit strapped right now, but tax season is coming up and that means a tax return since I don't make the big bucks. When I get mine in I'll see what I can afford.

No worries Eli. Like I said, I'm not demanding it :P

I do it because it's what I like to do.

Just some more info on this:

I have started a package deal that allows us to have a chatroom as well. It is much like the one we have now, but completely better and hosted off our server. It is developed by the folks at Invision Services, so it integrates seamlessly with the site. One bonus: No lag.

So far:
- IPB Forum Software (Standard): $149.99
- IP Chat (20 online users): $19.99/year
- IP Content (Content Management): $49.99

Total: $209.97

Indeed.

Also, wanted to point out that http://modernwarfare247.com uses the same forum software. :)

How come you don't like vbb?  I know their license fees are comparable to the above mentioned, and the customization is amazing.

vBulletin sucks. Period. I've had way too many bad experiences with them.

OK. Conversion is done. Everything went well so far. Please report any problems you may have.

New chat looks sexy. Check it out by clicking the "Chat" button on the navbar. Also, you can now connect your facebook account with this site. Simply go to your profile CP, click "Edit Profile" and look for "Manage Facebook Connect".

A couple questions about this new forum software...

1. will we be able to get our darker color scheme back because the white and blue seems a little generic.
2. the one thing that i am really missing is the "unread posts" link that was in the previous software. Is there a comparable feature we could utilize with this software.
3. How do I get to the admin section of this software?
You can run but you will only die tired.

1. I would have to look for a dark alternative that is IPB compatible.
2. There is a link on the top right corner, below your profile info. "View New Content"
3. There should be a link in the top right corner on a black navbar. If it's not there, let me know.
4. Sigs got reformatted. Some may need to redo them.

I clicked on the new content and it didn't pull anything up, is that because I didn't log in so it doesn't know where to start?

BTW what is the warn status bar under our names?

If you don't log in, it won't show new content.

The warn status bar is a moderation thing. You can only see your own warn status (should you ever get a warning lol)

Well this definately looks like an improvement, although it will take some getting used to. The view new content link did not work for me, but I will keep giving it a shot. As far as a few bucks, PM me your paypal stuff and I will see if I can throw a few your way dude.

Thanks for the work you do.

It will take some time to get used to it but I like it. The biggest issue I see is one the was already pointed out by Camo. The site is kinda "plain jane" right now. It doesn't really entice others to come a look around. Regardless, I like it.
